From his childhood on, Benjamin Grey has always been performing and entertaining people during birthdays and parties. He loved music from his first years on.
It was about 3 or 4 years ago that Piapella and Benjamin Grey met for the first time, during an audition for a musical in a theatre in his hometown Eindhoven. It was immediately clear this young guy had to have a carrier as a solo artist in the future. Benjamin Grey finished high school and went to the Conservatory of Utrecht, to do a specialized study in singing.
Piapella approached him a few months later to do a project with belgian DJ Marco Bailey, for the vocals of the track "Running Round", which became a hit in Belgium and was often played on Dutch radio stations, festivals and in clubs.
After half a year, Benjamin Grey decided to quit the conservatory because, strangely enough, he had less time to be busy with making music. This, due to his study which didn't focus on him as an artist.
While he started a new study, he kept in contact with Martijn Michel, a 4th-year guitar student from the conservatory, which whom he had worked with before in a really positive and inspiring way. They wrote a couple of songs from which one called "Driving" became the Demo of the Day (Demo van de dag) during 3FM's Serious Request 2010 (a famous, Dutch charity event).
His sound and style is often compared with Gavin deGraw, Alain Clark, Justin Nozuka, John Mayer and Robin Thicke.
Benjamin Grey is now busy writing new songs, which will be released in the near future.
